| OUR GOALS:
Art Galleries:
To establish a coop art gallery with a minimum of 10 artists to show and sell art in our area.
To promote openings of private art galleries with regular shows.
In Store Exhibits:
To match artists and merchants to display art for sale in as many locations as possible; and to promote Marceline as A Gallery in Every Store.
Fine Art Festivals:
To establish a fall festival to promote artists throughout our area and beyond with suitable events.
Workshops:
The Council will start with one workshop the first year and try to build a regular schedule of workshops in all medias. After the first year we will try to establish a regular schedule of workshops with changing artist instructors.
Competitions:
One major art event per year, probably in conjunction with the fall festival. A juried event open to all artists and broken down into categories (portrait, landscape, etc.) with cash prizes for 1st place, 2nd place in each category. Also a cash prize for overall best of show.
Other competitions throughout the year such as paint-outs and plein air events.
To work with local high schools to produce a regional student art show, with tuition to art workshops as prizes.
Art Walks:
A regular night to appreciate art with new exhibits being placed in the merchants and galleries. During the summer months merchants could serve snacks to shoppers and shoppers could visit with the available artists.
OUR MISSION:
The North Missouri Arts Council is established to encourage, promote and facilitate the development of fine arts in northern Missouri.
We wish to enrich the broader local community with the availability of works by regional artists and in turn, contribute to the marketability of the arts as an economic livelihood for creative people.
We support and encourage the development of the fine arts in our young people and others through gallery exhibits, art shows and related workshops.
We strive to enhance the understanding of the role of fine arts in fulfilling the human need for aesthetically pleasing objects of good design in everyday life.
